10 Simple Offices Fit Out Tips

10 Simple Offices Fit Out Tips

Updating an office fit out or providing new office design can be both challenging and expensive. Here are ten design tips that should help ease the burden, and set you on the path for success.

1. Plan First

Plan the perfect office for your needs, and then find the office space that fits that configuration.

2. Before Planning or Work begins, Think about Your Office Related Safety Issues.

Note the placement of all fire extinguishers, fire doors, first aid equipment, smoke detectors, sprinklers and exit signs. Consider access and outlets during an emergency. You will base all design decisions on these basic needs.

3. Be Patient

Carefully measure all work areas, and develop a plan to maximize the use of available space. Worry about practicality now and aesthetics later. Take into account the height and sizes of the people who work in the office. Consider each individual workspace in relation to the others. Make certain to account for wheelchair access.

4.Think about Business Growth and the Future of Your Company

You cannot account for all possibilities, but you can prepare for any. During the planning stage, focus on flexibility. This will allow the office to adapt to any of the challenges it may face in the future.

5. Limit costs by looking to internal solutions first

In other words, design by using the equipment and options that are already in place. Only look to an external, and therefore more costly, solution when the internal choice is an inferior one.

6. Take the Time to Research Innovations

If you are not familiar with interior office design, you might be amazed at the possibilities available. These possibilities include non-standard-shaped furniture to maximize floor space and low-hanging ceilings for space-saving cable management.

7. As you Begin Devising a Layout, Focus on External Light, Lighting, Sight-lines & Sound

Consider vision and sound from all of the office’s angles, and examine it in relation to the type of work performed at each workstation. Finding the right balance can be difficult. You can use glass, partitions and solid walls to manipulate the area. Accentuate natural lighting, but provide means to control it.

8. After Completion of the Workstation Layout, Plan the Location of Necessities to Compliment that Layout

These items include cabinetry, computer equipment, office furniture, phone and audio outlets, power outlets, shelving, etc. The key here is to choose positioning that is convenient and flexible.

9. Begin to Consider Aesthetic Elements

Choose colors for the walls and partitions. Select door colors or styles. Take into account skirting and flashing, and consider any business advertisements or graphics. It is important that an office take advantage of a beautiful and modern decor. However, practicality should govern all decisions.

10. Consider advise of a Professional

Professional interior designers can put the final additions on the work that you have accomplished. It is more cost-effective to hire a professional than it is to take on a job that you do not have the skills or resources to accomplish.
