Commercial Office Design – Open & User Friendly Workspaces

Workspaces need to be as open and user friendly as possible when it comes to effective commercial office design. This relates to the careful positioning of power outlets, computers, phone outlets and audio outlets. This is also a safety issue because it’s important to clear away unnecessary cords as they not only appear untidy but are liable to short circuit and can be easily tripped over.
It is also vital to consider how much space the employee has to freely move around in their workspace as this is one of the key elements of effective commercial office design. If an employee feels jammed into a tight space without the freedom to move around they will naturally feel hindered and in some cases, may even slowly begin to develop mild claustrophobic symptoms. Every employee should at least be able to push their seat back comfortably, stand up and openly stretch! Cabinets and storage areas also need to be carefully placed so they are easily within reach of the average employee.
Great commercial office design also takes an employee’s height, weight and condition into consideration. Bigger employees require more space, legroom and may even need specialised furniture to support them. If an employee is disabled in any way, such as requiring the use of a wheelchair, this will have an even bigger impact on the overall commercial office design, i.e. the installation of access ramps and disabled toilets.
